His hobby is the game of Go, the oldest board game of the world, with a history of over four thousands years. Go was one of the ancient arts - next to calligraphy,painting and harp playing - in China, Japan and Korea.Nowadays in the whole world tens of millions of people play Go, among them several thousands in Poland.Janusz got fascinated by the game of Go already during his studies. He spent many years on improving his ability, deepening his understanding of the secrets of the game and studying its underlying philosophy.He reached the master level of 5 Dan (ability in Go, just like in Asian martial arts, is expressed in kyu-grades for students, and for masters of the game in Dan-rankings).

Janusz was many times Polish Champion. He won the title of European Champion in 1983 in Edinburgh UK. And his best performance in World Championship tournaments was 6th place in 1986 in Tokyo. He described his adventures with Go in the book "The world of Go - the secrets of the national game of Japan" (whitch is only available in Polish). He is also the author of a Go playing computer program "Star of Poland", which is one of the best in the world. His program has won many times the European Computer Go Championship, took the bronze Olimpic medal on the First Computer Olympiad of Strategical Games in London in 1989 and finished second in the World Championship held in China in 1993.

The fiirm Godan and its name derive from the fascination with Go - the emperor of games. In the year 1990, an acquaintance Go player from the USA gave the address of Janusz to a person, who was looking for business contacts in Poland. And indeed in less than a year, Janusz became the representative of the largest American balloon maker "Anagram". Nowadays a couple of dozen workers build the force of Godan and thanks to their joint effort Godan became the leading firm in its branch in Central Europe.

Janusz underlined in many press interviews, that everything what he achieved in his life is thanks to the game of Go. Out of gratitude Godan decided to be the main organiser of the European Go Congress and Championship held in the Polish town of Tuchola in 1995. In an interview for the Polish Press Agency, Janusz told at that time: "Knowledge of the essentials of the game of Go is a prominent help in business. Go is based on sharing, even with competitors, and not on destroying. What counts is flexibility and reacting quickly, which enables - even after lost battles - to win the competition".
